“She’s just funny. She’s clever and cool and very human.”

- The Herald

Alysia Wood is one of the bright new faces to come out of the strong Seattle comedy scene.  She was nominated by Campus Activities Magazine for their Reader’s Choice Awards in the comedy category for “Best Performer – Female Artist”.  Long before the nomination, The Bob and Tom show called her material, “well-written… well-structured.”  National Lampoon Comedy Radio called her, “Hysterical!” She jokes about so many “issues” that a therapist once handed her a business card during one of her shows.

Budd Friedman, legendary founder of the Improv chain, hosted a comedy competition at The Improv at Harrah’s in Las Vegas.  Wood won the competition which caught the attention of Grammy award-winning producer, Dan Schlissel of Stand Up! Records, who then offered her a recording contract. Her debut CD, Princess, was well received.  Virgin Airlines selected it for in-flight entertainment and the Serious Comedy Site named it one of 2012’s “Top 10 Stand-up Comedy MP3 albums and CDs”.  Her sophomore album is in the works.

Wood is also a contributing writer for internet columns and frequent guest on many podcasts.  She was a panelist on Niecy Nash’s Yahoo series, “Let’s Talk About Love” and is in the “I Am Road Comic” documentary. Currently, she appears frequently on Seattle area television shows like “The 206″ and “New Day nw”, both on NBC KING5.

“I love it when Alysia comes back to Seattle–she brings a little edge back to the Kingdom of Polite and always manages to have something surprising and very funny to say.”
